  Dear Mrs Walsh,

I hope you will forgive me writing to you again, I can only plead as an excuse, my anxiety as one mother to another. I know you have your own grief and anxiety also, and you have my deepest sympathy since the terrible time our sons were reported missing. However two days ago I had a letter from Mrs Forrester, in which she says you have written her stating that you heard of a boy named Jowett being found in a

German prison, after being lost for over twelve months. Would it be asking too much if I asked you if you would give me all the details, where this story came from and who told you? I should be very glad to trace any possibilities of it being true, I know what a cruel disappointment you suffered last Christmas, and quite possibly this is only a coincidence in names, but I would like to prove it either one way or another. The Red Cross say they can find no trace of them, but obviously this boy has not been found either. Did you hear of any other names, there is Jowett, Thirkettle, Combes, Carthew and Rolfe. And as you know whether a P.O.W. wrote to Australia from a camp mentioning this boy, I am asking a lot I know, but if it will save you any trouble , if you could give me the address of the person who told you , I will write to them, I cannot leave any stone unturned which will give me any news, he is all I have Mrs Walsh. I have had a few letters from Dorothy Westbrook, Cyrils' friend , and the first leave she gets she is coming to see me. She gave me your address and I wrote some months ago, but do not know whether you received it or not. Her brother was shot down over the Rhur about a month ago, but managed to limp into Holland on one engine, and after spending a week in that country arrived back in England. Hoping you will be able to help me, please accept my grateful thanks and kindest regards,

                                            Yours very sincerely

                                                        Evelyn Lee
